How is Adjusted Flow Rate Calculated?

How is Adjusted Flow Rate Calculated? was posted on August 29th, 2017 at 2:35 PM UTC

I am comparing HCS7 results reports for two different sets of demand volumes. The two analyses are close except for the thru movement on one approach - analysis #1 has demand=439, PHF=0.9, & adjusted flow rate=457, analysis #2 has demand=505, PHF=0.84, & adjusted flow rate=1253. Why is the adjusted flow rate more than double the demand volume on the second analysis?

Thank you for your help,

John

Hi John,

For a signalized intersection analysis, the adjusted flow rate can be affected beyond the peak hour factor to include the shared lane model and/or flow balancing for adjacent intersections. I would be happy to take a look if you want to send me the files.

Thanks, Bill
