regarding Chapter 14: Freeway Merge and Diverge Segments

Q1: Page 14-25 paragraph 3. What would be the “queuing analysis” to be conducted if the queue exists on ramps?

Q2: Page 14-19 - Exhibit 14-9: What if the number of freeway lanes is greater than 8?

Q3: Page 14-28 - What would be the value of N0 if number of lanes = 2?

A1: The HCQS committee does not currently offer specific guidance on this issue; however, NCHRP Project 15-57, in progress, will result in guidance on this topic that will eventually be incorporated into the HCM. A2: See Section 4. A3: Zero.
